ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP COUNCIL MEETING

The GSTC is pleased to announce our second annual membership council meeting in Barcelona, Spain, June 28 - 30, 2011. All GSTC members are invited to attend and participate in a exciting set of informative, educational and working events including a tour of Sustainable Barcelona hosted by the City of Barcelona. The GSTC Open Forum on Wednesday, June 29 from 9:30 - 14:00 is open to the public. We welcome everyone interested in learning more about sustainable tourism and the efforts of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.
Member only events include a private, behind-the-scenes tour of how a urban destination has applied sustainability to their growth plans, updates from the board and secretariat on progress over the past year, a UN Foundation sponsored Welcome cocktail reception, Members dinner and seminars on the GSTC Criteria and Accreditation. Members of the GSTC Working Groups will meet on Thursday, June 30 mid-morning to discuss their plans for 2011 and beyond.
The majority of the meetings will occur in the 22@ neighborhood of Barcelona, also known as Poblenou. This area is a stellar example of innovation in the revitalization of an industrial neighborhood to meed the demands of a information-based society based on sustainability principles. In the next several days we will provide additional information regarding lodging for our members.
